Location
In 2005, the Crime Prevention Institute moved its
offices inside the Travis State Jail. This strategic
relocation allowed for easier and more frequent access
to Targeted Project Re-Enterprise clients and enabled
implementation of enhanced pre-release programming.
As a result of the move, the Crime Prevention Institute
reduced overall expenses by eight percent!
Directions
In central Austin, take Martin Luther King Blvd. east
of IH-35 and follow it all the way east of HWY183.
Once you cross HWY183 (Ed Bluestein) MLK Blvd. becomes
FM 969. About 2 miles down past a Chevron station
the entrance to the jail will be on the right marked
by a large sign which reads Travis State Jail.
Turn right and follow the long road leading up to
the jail. Park in visitor's parking and come in the
main entrance.
