The Crime Prevention Institute employs three full-time,
one part-time and one contract employee, along with
two Masters level social work interns from the University
of Texas School of Social Work.

Laura E. Smith, LMSW Executive
Director
Laura Elmore Smith has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
and a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University
of Texas at Austin and is a licensed master social
worker, licensed since 2001 by the State of Texas.
Her professional experience highlights include parent
training, group facilitation, case management, drug
treatment, program coordination, staff supervision,
and non-profit management. She has utilized her many-faceted
social work skills in school settings, non-profit
organizations, and correctional facilities. Ms. Smith
is currently the Executive Director for Crime Prevention
Institute, where she is responsible for oversight
of current transitional programming for ex-offenders,
development of new programming, community collaborations,
outcome measurements, intern and volunteer supervision,
and resource and fund development. She is a founding
member of the Austin/Travis County Re-Entry Roundtable,
a collaborative body initiating macro level change
in the area of offender re-integration.
Christina Hamilton, LMSW Operations Specialist
Christina Hamilton has a Bachelor of Social Work and
a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University
of Texas at Austin and is a Licensed Master Social
Worker, licensed since 2002 by the State of Texas.
Her professional experience highlights include parent
training, group facilitation, program planning and
coordination, grant and contract report writing, conference
and event planning and implementation, database management
and intern and volunteer supervision. Ms. Hamilton
is currently the Operations Specialist at Crime Prevention
Institute, where she works with the Executive Director
and Case Managers to manage daily operations and administration
of grants and program contracts and develop organizational
systems to guide efficiency and monitoring. She also
volunteers her time and organizational skills at local
non-profit fundraising events.
Larry Branham, MA Case Manager
Larry Branham has a degree in Political Science and
a Masters in Counseling from the Episcopal Theological
Seminary of the Southwest, in Austin, Texas. His professional
experience highlights include teaching in the public
school system, case management, skills training, and
counseling for many non-profit organizations over
the last 15 years. Larry has worked with many marginalized
groups of people throughout the city of Austin: children
in special education, adults at the Austin State Hospital,
people with special needs at Goodwill, welfare-to-work
moms and non-custodial parents. With all these groups,
Larry designed and implemented training programs directed
towards improvement of communication skills, self-sufficiency,
job-seeking and job retention skills and parenting
classes. He is a consummate trainer with both large
and small groups and has excellent counseling skills
for one-on-one situations. Larry is currently the
case manager for Crime Prevention Institute. Along
with his case management duties, he also facilitates
job readiness training and co-facilitates groups which
are aimed at helping inmates build networking resources
and a strategy for relapse prevention.
Tiffany Ross Case Manager
Tiffany Ross has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology
from the University of Houston-Downtown and is currently
pursuing her Masters of Science in Social Work from
the University of Texas at Austin. Her professional
experiences highlights include group facilitation,
volunteer coordination, event planning, information
and referral services for youth and families, and
case management. Ms. Ross is currently the Case Manager
at Crime Prevention Institute for the Girl Scouts
Beyond Bars Program, providing pre-release education
and post-release case management services to the mothers
of the girls in Troop 1500-a special Girl Scout troop
in Austin who all have mothers in prison. She also
volunteers her time with a local HIV/AIDS organization,
and an anti-death penalty organization.
